Please be aware our hut is currently closed, following home office advice around COVID 19. Please follow our blog or facebook pages for more updates. Tal-Y-Braich (TyB) is located in the heart of the North Wales climbing and Mountaineering scene, located on the lower slopes of Elidir Fawr, between Bethesda and Llanberis and is blessed with beautiful sunsets looking out towards Anglesey. The hut is split into 2 buildings: the cottage, which sleeps 16 and the byre, which sleeps 10. The byre is for members only, but the cottage is available to book by other mountaineering clubs. If you are a member of the club you can also sign in 3 guests. Costs per night are:
  • £4 for members
  • £6 for guests
  • £8 for other clubs
On arrival, we ask that you sign in to the hut log book inside the cottage, by the front door.

The Cottage

Originally a farmhouse, now the main hut at TyB, the cottage can be used by members and booked by other clubs (click here for details on how). The sleeping is in two bunk rooms with space for 8 in each, using two storey single bunks and three storey double bunks. The bunks are equipped with mattresses, but please remember to bring your sleeping bag! A few pillows and pillow cases are available. Both rooms have electric storage heater, and one is also heated by a solid fuel stove. The living room has a large wood burning stove and plenty of chairs for relaxing on. There is also a table for eating your food at. The kitchen is equipped with Calor gas and electric cookers, a microwave, two fridges and all of the cutlery, crockery pots and pans that you could ever need!

The Byre was originally a cowshed, but has been converted for the use of club members. It’s self contained, with it’s own kitchen. There are toilets and a shower in the garage. The byre has 2 double bunks and an alpine style bunk that sleeps 6 up top. The Byre is always kept free if the cottage is booked (apart from club meets), so you should always be able to drop in to the hut.
